SOOHO.IO Selected for Korea’s Baby Unicorn Program

SOOHO.IO has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ Baby Unicorn program, part of its Global Unicorn Project.

What is a Baby Unicorn?

The term describes a promising startup with the potential to become a unicorn—a privately held company valued at more than KRW 1 trillion under the definition used here. Baby Unicorn companies represent an earlier stage of that growth journey.

The ministry’s Baby Unicorn program identifies startups with strong technology and growth potential, providing funding, consulting, and networking opportunities to support their development into global companies.

Competition was strong: 199 companies applied, and just 50 were selected. We are pleased to see SOOHO.IO’s technology and growth potential recognized through this process.

SOOHO.IO’s journey

Since beginning with smart contract security solutions in 2019, SOOHO.IO has expanded into blockchain finance and digital asset services. Its flagship Touchstone platform brings together digital asset creation, verification, deployment, and tracking to support more efficient and secure operations.

Following recognition at the 2019 Binance hackathon and other technical competitions, SOOHO.IO was included alongside Aave and Uniswap in a 2022 Gartner report on DeFi technology. The company has worked with Samsung SDS, LG CNS, and the Financial Security Institute, and raised a total of KRW 10 billion from investors including Consensys, Woori Technology Investment, and WEMIX.

The next stage of growth

Selection for the program marks the start of a new chapter. With government support, SOOHO.IO plans to accelerate technology development and international expansion, demonstrate institutional applications of Touchstone, and bring more blockchain-based financial services to Korean and overseas markets.

Our ambition is to become a global blockchain company driving digital financial innovation and, ultimately, a unicorn. We will continue investing in R&D, expanding partnerships, and improving the user experience.
